Cameras dominate our public spaces. Surveillance cameras capture the smallest details, and AI is used to track and analyse our behaviour. Even if we try to avoid them, we cannot escape them.
But we don't shy away from cameras. We use our smartphones to stage ourselves wherever we are. Every second, we take photos, post them, and share our lives with the world on the internet. If we have autonomy, cameras are identity-forming. We asked ourselves how our behavior in public spaces would change if we had control over the images a camera could capture. Do we continue to avoid the cameras around us, or does the desire to present ourselves prevail? "Wo Bisch?" is an experiment where we installed a permanent camera in a public space, which only displays the most recent picture taken. If the camera is destroyed, the images are also lost. Passers-by have the opportunity to take a photo of themselves or simply walk on.
